Simon Spence
Practicalities

Location

I work in The Thwaite,* a quiet room set aside for counselling in an area very accessible to Edinburgh and also for those coming from elsewhere.
Corstorphine Hill, with its walled-garden and nature reserve, is a short walk away. Before or after our meetings you may wish to take the opportunity to take time for yourself in beautiful surroundings.

To minimise our meeting's carbon footprint,  please consider coming by public transport; an easy bus ride from central Edinburgh, just minutes away from the Lothian Buses 26 route terminus.
If this is not possible and you need to come by car, there is ample parking available nearby and I am close to the main routes west and north.

I regret that my premises are not currently accessible by wheelchair. Alternative arrangements may be made by agreement.

I will send you detailed directions prior to our first appointment.

* 'Thwaite' is a word of Norse origin, meaning a fertile and productive clearing.

My Fees  (Reviewed January 2021)

Making payment

My preferred method of payment is by direct bank transfer to my account:
'Simon Spence Counselling'
Starling Bank

Sort Code: 60-83-71
Account:    30095339
  • For the reference, please give your initials and the date of the meeting for which you are paying.
  • Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due on the date of the meeting.

If this is not possible for you I accept payment by cash or cheque when we meet.
I do not currently have credit/debit card facilities.

for Counselling/Psychotherapy

My current fees are £45.00 per hour.
Sessions are usually for one hour, though this can be negotiated if for any reason it does not suit your requirements. I review my fees annually, though I do not necessarily raise them each year.
In a limited number of cases I am able to negotiate a reduced fee, if personal circumstances mean the full fee is unaffordable. Please ask about this if you wish.

for Supervision

My current fee is £45.00 per hour. I charge a reduced rate of £35.00 for counselling/psychotherapy students.

for Accompaniment

Please ask about my charging policy for Accompaniment.

Cancellations

I request at least twenty-four hours notice for cancellations. A fee may be charged otherwise.
Please note that this does not apply in the event of unforeseen and unavoidable events, such as illness, transport problems etc.

Appointment availability

I am generally available for appointments from Monday - Fridays, with 9.00am being the first appointment and 4.30pm being the last on each day. Evening appointments are sometimes possible. Appointments take place in Fortrose. With prior discussion and agreement, I offer sessions by webcam.
